Lab Headend and Server for DCR Hosts
The BRH-300 is a standalone, rack mounted, digital cable television headend system suitable for use in laboratories and tradeshows. The BRH-300 can serve clear and scrambled QAM streams for testing and demonstrating uni-directional digital cable products (UDCP) which are digital cable ready (DCR).

The BRH-300 provides the following features:
- Streams to test 8VSB, QAM and QPSK tuner devices.
- Stream 8VSB and QAM modulated video and audio content.
- Test Copy Protection ability of OpenCable UDCP devices.
- In depth testing of CableCARD™/OpenCable ready Digital Television platforms.
- Test suite for conditional access programming of CableCARD™/OpenCable ready digital television platforms.
- Play back clear QAM test streams with in-band PSIP data.
- Play back pre-packaged encrypted QAM test streams with Out-of-Band SCTE-65 SI data. These test streams are provided with BRH-300.
- Includes CableCARD™ enabled digital cable set-top box and production CableCARD™ to confirm correct operation.
- Self-contained, custom, shock-mounted case, capable of being transported or shipped. External case dimensions 23½” x 30” x 33½” (60cm x 76cm x 85cm). Total case & BRH-300 weight of 300 lbs (136 Kg).
- Test EAS (Emergency Alert System) functionality of the digital television platform.
- Test CableCARD™ entitlement and revocation as applied to the digital television host.
- Includes one production and one evaluation CableCARD™. Additional cards available.
- EMM delivery to digital television host.
- SPTS and MPTS support.\Virtual and physical channel change support.
- Power requirements of 12 amps at 115 volts.
OUTPUTS
The BRH-300 provides the following RF outputs:
Three different and simultaneous outputs:
- 8VSB modulated channel, frequency adjustable via software.
- Clear QAM-B modulated channel, that can be software programmed as 64QAM or 256QAM.
- QAM-B modulated channel that can provide an unencrypted (clear) channel or encrypted (Premium Value) content.
UPGRADABILITY
The BRH-300 rack has 5U of free rack space. This can be used to provide three additional, identical, RF outputs such that the equipment still fits within the same rack and case. Additional outputs, beyond six, can be ordered and require a custom rack and case.
The BRH-300 can also be upgraded to the BRH-400 (available 3Q06) which adds support for bi-directional and multi-stream CableCARD™.
